Actually, (and thanks Robyn... wasn't aware that the show was a Catter's!) I am aware of the meaning of the song title, it is the same thing Willie Clancy and Sheamus Ennis called it, rather than the cleaned up, "The Good Wife..." hence, the set name, Swifts Modest Propsal, a pun on the fact that Mazmalani Swift joins me on the tune. For those who don't speak Irish, Phis is a less than polite word for a certain distinctive part of the female anatomy and Fluich means wet, so it is the wet....., well, Seamus Ennis was playing it for Folkways, who asked the name of it, and be began to say, An Phi... when some wag chimed in O'Niels Return to Limmerick, at which point sheamus said, "it must have been one effing hell of a return!" Pronounced, (for Robyn...) An Feece Fluckh... (Flook softer k than look, but close).
ROBYN, send me your address again by PM and I will send you the rough cuts from the new CD, "Bitter Angry Quakers." They are rather topical, so they are being played here in New York on WBAI.
Thanks again, and my best to your listeners.
Cheers
Larry
PS Do you know my friend in New Zealand, with the Lawyers Committee for Nuclear Disarmament, Alyn Ware???????????
