There are certainly benefits to having time to get comfortable with onesself. And after that, one is probably a better partner in future relationships. I have always felt a pressure to be coupled and have only in recent years allowed myself to be OK with singlehood. The benefit for me has been in getting clearer about what really matters to me on many levels. Being the best Judy I can be has become paramount.

I don't live alone, though (I have a 13 year old amazing young man in the house) so I don't have many of the "benefits" listed above of living alone. Honestly, I'm not at all sure I would like living completely alone, but I don't know, because I've never done so.
