Same thing happened to me about 14 years ago, when our house was destroyed by fire. Cassettes in a drawer were mostly ok, after being dried out from the water used to put the fire out, but the records were pretty much a mess, and had to be thrown out. One thing I learned from that was that records can mostly be replaced, over time, and yes, stuff is very replaceable and a lot of it forgettable, and there is usually too much of it. Within a few years, we were back in the position of not enough room for the stuff we had, even after being glad we'd never spent much on anything (early american garage sale and thrift shop)and vowing not to allow clutter in again - ha! the best music is that made with friends and family.
