Subject: RE: Help! I just lost a a bunch of LP's--
Here in Texas insurance companies have reworked their homeowners policies. The original "A" type policy was replacement value and included mold damage, and "B" was much less coverage, and it was all based on depreciation. Now, with the mold claims, they have priced the true "A" policies so no one can touch them if they compare, and if people renew automatically, they're hit by huge increases. Instead of the standard "B" policy, they now have what is essentially a "High B" or "B+" policy that is everything the "A" policy covers EXCEPT mold. That's the policy that I have now.

Though the prospect of fooling with drywall is a pain in the neck, after having watched a major remodel in my old garage (now my office and sunroom) and the construction of a new garage, I know that if I had to deal with wet walls I'd probably tear out the old wallboard before it had time to mold and replace it. Our houses are mostly so flimsy today it's almost scary, how little we have between us and the weather.

When I realized that I wasn't going to be able to keep my father's LP's together in one place as the foundation of his collection (I plan to donate it to a university or music museum one of these years) I scrambled to tape all of the LP's and to photocopy everything about the album covers and the liner notes. It isn't the same as having the originals, but at least the information is preserved.

Do post a list of what you are hoping to replace. From what you've mentioned so far, it doesn't sound like there is overlap between the collection I have and what you're wringing out, but I'm sure you'll find instances where people can at least burn a CD or record the LP and copy the cover for you.
