Saying you dislike Erykah Badu and/or her music, or saying you think the Grammies are a sell out, won't get you called a racist, Steve-o. Personally, I'm not an Erykah Badu music fan either. But I thought her "look" last night was just fine--a 60s retro look for a young African American woman. I agree she botched her first attempt at reading the teleprompter badly. But that isn't inexcusable--these people are making a television appearance in front of an audience of millions of people. I'd be pretty damn nervous and likely to blow my lines too.

However, if you had referred to her as "Afroskant", said she should have "stayed on the porch", called her a "crackhead" who should be "kept where she belongs--on the street"...that would definitely get you called a racist.

These are simple distinctions to make, though.
