Hello everyone,
Dick said it was fine to post this so here goes. I thought folks on this forum might be interested in my new CD release.

Robin Greenstein "Images of Women, Vol.1"
traditional folk songs about women
on Windy Records
available online at www.robingreenstein.com

After two recordings of original music, it's a delight to offer a CD of traditional folk music, featuring lots of banjo and acoustic guitar. Many folks know me primarily as a singer-songwriter, while in fact I have been playing banjo and traditional folk for years. These songs are part of a concert-lecture entitled "Images of Women in Folk Music" that I have been performing for quite some time at colleges, universities and at other venues across the US. I have a wide background in folk music. In college I studied under folk legend Hedy West ("500 Miles") who I then worked for, cataloguing and indexing her recordings. After college I had a CETA grant to collect, notate and perform Sephardic Jewish Music. I taught at the famed Guitar Workshop in Roslyn, NY and am a clinician for Martin Guitars, among other things.

The songs are classic American and Anglo-American folk songs, ranging from ballads and lyric songs to blues.

Track listing is:

1) Wagoner's Lad
2) Katie Dear
3) Gypsy Davy
4) Know You Rider
5) Cotton Mill Girls
6) Rosemary Lane
7) The Railroad Boy
8) Let No Man Steal Your Thyme
9) House Carpenter
10) The Wind and Rain
11) Wish I Was A Single Girl Again
12) The Devil and the Farmer's Wife
13) Dink's Song

Anyone who is a fan of the "O Brother?" soundtrack will enjoy this CD. The recording is very acoustic with very few instruments. It features a lot of banjo and fingerstyle guitar along with bass, occasionally fiddle or harmonica (and on a couple of songs, a bit of synthesizer) and some percussion, but no drums. The CD is being released in two volumes.

Sound clips from the CD can be heard at my website - go to www.robingreenstein.com and click on "sound clips" and scroll down. They are in mp3 format and quite short so they won't take loads of download time. You can also read more about the project there, and also order CDs there.

The CD costs $15 but for for the folk music lovers on this forum only, this is one-time offer: You can purchase CDs for only $10 by mailing in the downloadable order form and writing "Digital Tradition bulletin board" on it. Sorry, but I can't offer this with the online charge feature.

Regards,
Robin Greenstein
