The Skaggs and Rice rendition on their classic Sugar Hill album is the definitive one as far as I am concerned. No note there either - it is attributed to 'Trad - arr Skaggs and Rice'. I had a troll around the usual suspects on the Net, but failed to turn up anything. Maybe Masato unearth something in some dark corner.
