Thread Name: Has the British Govt. gone mad?
Subject: Has the British Govt. gone mad?
For a number of reasons, listed below, I feel our government are increasingly introducing many new laws which seem to border on lunacy.

In addition to the crazy PEL debacle, I heard in the news today that the government are proposing that children under 14 be permitted to enter pubs on their own, without any adult supervision being required.

The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair is endeavouring to lead the country into conflict with Iraq, whilst most other major european heads of state are opposed to this issue, and yet at the same time a significant number of MPs of all parties have shown that they're also anti-war. Also, according to latest statistics, most ordinary people in Britain are likewise opposed.

With measures to de-criminalise possession of cannabis & other so-called 'soft' drugs, the government, despite announcements about cutting crime & reducing the risks of re-offending, seem hell bent on creating conditions in which crime is more lightly to flourish, the children in pubs example being the latest.

What do you think?
