Thread Name: ADD: My Love Comes Rolling Down (E Von Schmidt)
Subject: 'My Love Comes Rolling Down' by *who*?
From the Web I gather that in 1964 Eric Von Schmidt sang "My Love Comes Rolling Down" on _Eric Sings von Schmidt_, on which, according to the notes, "all songs are by Von Schmidt". He also sang it at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, and the label on the LP credits it to him. The liner notes of _2nd Right, 3rd Row_ (1972) seem to suppose the same. I heard him sing the song at Passim in 1996, and he laid claim to it, with some details about the long-legged woman named Kay.

But now I have bought a set of Vanguard CDs called _Roots of the Blues_ (2002), on which it is sung by one Tony Glover, under the name "I Don't Need No Whiskey", and the notes credit it to a mysterious entity called Copyright Control, with the mysterious footnote "*previously unreleased from the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, except track 6 on disc 1 recorded at the 1964 Newport Folk Festival" (that's the one).

Who or what is Copyright Control? And who wrote "My Love Comes Rolling Down" -- Von Schmidt, or the man in the moon?

I hope he gets his voice back.
