There are folks who know how to do this. It's a different thing than learning to perform on an instrument or sing. Fortunately there are quite a few folk promulgating machines out there. In a way I think of this as an integral part of the folk process. It's like giving back for receiving such joy. It's so important because it builds the audience for folk music by participation. The appreciation for it grows as people begin to own it and it's not just another "spectator sport".
