Although John Chapman, alas is with us no longer, the Dance Caller that I rated the best (for many reasons) was Dick Witt. He brought Dancing to the Radio (!!)and (apart from calling with the dreadful Greensleeves Band) did much to spread the word in non-dancing circles. The word was that he was still alive although had lost his sight. He once did a weekly dance at Butlin's, Bognor Regis and if still alive, resides somewhere on the south coast. As I haven't read an obit, does any southern England Mudcatter know of his health?
