In three centuries of American Music, vol. 1, a facsimile of the music and words of "The Female Auctioneer" "composed and sung by the Orphean family," is reproduced, pp. 35-38. All of the songs in this volume, "American Solo Songs through 1865," are from before that date. Sheet music with lyrics is at the Levy Collection website, dated 1840.

The lady is not selling objects. The first line of the chorus is: "For I am going, going, going, going, Who bids, who bids for me?"
