Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Granada by Mario Lanza
Just to quote from the record sleeve (no lyrics) on the "Readers Digest: Mario Lanza's greatest hits (vol 1)"
Granada:
Like The Loveliest Night of The Year, the music of the pulse pounding Granada was created by a Mexican, Augustin Lara. The song burst upon the United States in 1932, but Mario Lanza's rousing delivery twenty years later in Because You're Mine helped to make it a hit all over again. Composer-lyricist Lara, dubbed the Mexican Irving Berlin, is Latin America's most prolific and successful songwriter, even though he can neither read nor write music. The English lyrics were written by Dorothy Dodd.
