Yes, Steve, the swallows returned...there was a picture in the paper, not of the birds, unfortunately, but of a monk welcoming them by ringing a bell at the mission. Spring has sprung in California, the southern half, anyway and we have the opposite problem w/water...not enough of it. "My" river has not been bank-to-bank once this winter.
