I know exactly what you mean Dave.I worked a little bit semi pro while I was in the R A F and went full pro eighteen months after demob.I lasted three years, and then went back to a day job and doing the music semi pro again.Which is where I still am.But I can say I
finished up after three years with more in the savings account than when I started.
