--seed, how could one forget The Wrong Trousers? I laugh myself sick every time I see it (that wonderful music! Feathers McGaw! Stop! Stop!)
[turns off VCR]

A few classics:
Jonathan Swift, "A Modest Proposal";
Malvolio's gulling scene in "Twelfth Night";
The screen scene in "A School for Scandal";
Every moment of "The Importance of Being Earnest"( easily the funniest English play);
and, in homage to the True Detectives Thread, Catch 22 (Where are the Snowdens of Yesteryear?)
sad and humanely funny at the same time:
Chekov, everything in Chekov (the film "Vanya on 42 Street" is one of the best films of the last 10 years);
Sir Andrew Aguecheek in Twelfth Night (the late night scene);
Beatrice and Benedict, the one-time lovers in Much Ado About Nothing;
Le Misanthrope
"She Stoops to Conquer". More classics: every episode of the "The Honeymooners". Best Bill Cosby: Chicken Heart, perhaps.
yours, Peter T.
