Peter, glad you mentioned Catch 22. It simplifies my post if I can stick to non-fiction:

I laughed myself sick flying across the Pacific while reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The movie just made me sick.

And then there's Angela's Ashes--laughing and crying at the same time. What a book!
