I had a similar problem with McAfee to GUEST, Q's problem. I did get a refund, but it took a lot of work to get it.

I have switched to Norton and love it. It hasn't crashed me once(unlike McAfee) and it's been worth its weight in gold. It caught 4 viruses that unwitting friends sent to me by email.
