Thread Name: New Bud and Travis CD!!
Subject: RE: New Bud and Travis CD!!
Hi Everyone:

I am delighted at the response to my post! Sorry I have been away for a few days . . . I am out of work currently, and job hunting and freelancing take a lot of time away from promoting the Cd and other things more fun and rewarding!

Anyway, I'll try to answer the questions in the order they were posted:

(1) To Chris: I do play a little bit, but I rely on some talents far greater than mine to come up with the tabs and slap strum explanations on the site! I am in a guitar class now, and I was bitched out with some amount of passion just last night by my teacher, who was frustrated that I didn't understand the concept of appregios (sp?). Oh, well! I have a ways to go, but I can put a few chords together coherently at this point. Learned "Brown Eyed Girl" last night. I'll know I have arrived when I can play "Malaguena"! (I know--see ya in a decade!) Anyway, I haven't heard of the Plank Road Jams. Do you have any more info?

(2) As for why you'd want the CD, Steve-O, I think other posters touched on that pretty well. For one, the convenience of a more contemporary CD format--you can play it in your car, etc. Also, CDs don't degrade or damage as easily as tapes or vinyl, and don't at all degrade or damage with even a modicum of care. Finally, I would argue that the new song order is pretty smokin'--it's the exact set they played that night, and it's reproduced in actual "concert" (not stereo or mono) sound. Crank it up, close your eyes, and just TRY to pretend that you're not fifth row, center! Last but certainly not least: think of it as a kind of investment for future B&T CDs. Allan Shaw has told me that if this CD sells well enough, he could very well re-release the entire B&T catalogue on CD. I don;t care how immaculately kept your vynil is: the idea of hearing the "Latin Album" in a pristine, CD-quality sound HAS to be too delicious to resist!

(3) To the best of my knowledge, Tiger, Travis is still alive and well in Mesa, AZ, unless something terrible has happened literally within the last 48 to 72 hours! I am in pretty close contact with Travis and his wife, Rosemarie (she's an awesome lady!). I will definitely check into this, of course!

Anyway, best to all, and PLEASE do buy the CD! Let's get that whole B&T catalogue released!!
