Why is it racist to simply refer to the past of such people as the Sioux, Cherokee, Navaho, Yupik, Salish, Blood, Alutiiq, White Mountain Apache, Inupiq, Mohawk, Iroquis, Shawnee, Fox, Sac, Shoshone, Bannock, Nez Perce, Mountian Ute, Paiute, Choctaw, Hopi, Jicarillo, Commanchee and others and yet correct to label others as "fundamentalist gun-toting white militia folks"?

I'm not being facetious or nasty -- I'd really like to know.
