I agree with Dick Greenhaus. The people who revived folk music and linked it with the Left accomplished marvelous things, but they did not prove that folk music and the Left are identical ideas. Earlier in the Century, it was linked with Nationalist movements, the nationalists also accomplished a great deal. Sharp was greatly pleased to discover traces of old England in Appalachia. Lomax was pleased to find Black influences. Both accomplished great things.

But as for Larry's view that songs are folk music, regardless of their origin, solely because he likes their political tendency -- Foo!
