Sometimes it seems that way, but don't forget, most of human history is prehistory. Most of the phiscal evidence is that humans form most of their prehistory were incorporative and most important, where driven by empathy. So, now that modern society creates alienation, and the alienated can kill without tears, the good which is our true nature outs, in people like Rachel. So, lets water and nurture that good in us, rather than accept that the alienated murderer is us, and we have to figure a statigy that uses that.
