Yeah, I meant Bush stole Florida. That permitted an electoral college victory for the Republicans, despite losing the USA popular vote (narrowly). You then look at the fact that only about half the people in the USA bother to vote, and Dubya was elected by less than a quarter of all eligible American voters. What a mandate. I agree that Gore did not campaign well. I remember back then...people were calling it "Gush and Bore". Neither side was exactly compelling.
