I first theard that line on "making the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes" in a recitation done by CHARLIE CARDINAL, an ex-lumberjack from Chipewa Falls, Wisconsin who had put his songs etc. on record for what was then called the Archive Of Folk Song at the Library Of Congress. I heard him say it as part of a later interview when he was in a Wisconsin nursing home as recorded for Wisconsin Public Radio by the superb folk-DJ Judy Rose. Mr. Cardinal was COMPLETELY all there mentally and it was a great interview. He referred to Chippewa Fells as "CHIPPY TOWN FALLS"----which I am certain it really was back in those lumberjack days.

Sooooo, is this a folk music thread or a B.S. thread now??? ;-)
