Dave, what drive are you using to burn the CD? Is the DVD drive you mention a combination reader/writer or do you have another burner drive? The reason I ask is that I get the same behavior in Win XP Pro as you mentioned when I put a blank CD-R in my DVD (non-burner) drive and left click, whereas I get an empty directory listing if I put this same disk into the burner drive and left click.
