Sorry Gareth I was referring to the Populist "movement" as witnessed in the USA during the 1920's and 1930's, Bob LaFollet type "stuff".
The expressed desire of Republicanism (Irish version, not USA) for a truly democratic state is what I meant by "grassroots". Democracy, is rare these days.
