Thread Name: Is this a record?
Subject: RE: Is this a record?
Perhaps it would be helpful if I described the circumstances ...

The first point to make is that none of the 54 songs he sang required him to have recourse to looking at the words! Most of them were sung at standard singarounds, with each singer taking turns round the room. But there were also some sung at mixed music and song sessions in a crowded bar, with everyone jumping in as they desired.

The usual size of the singarounds in the song loft at Miskin was between about 15 and 30 people, with the numbers changing all the time (there were other music and concert sessions going on at the same time). In the afternoon there was usually a lull and when the number in the room got down to 6 or so it tended to stop and reconvene later after a break.

On some occasions we sang in the bar area, which was a mixed session with musicians aswell. (In that room we were in sight of the 12 barrels of beer racked neatly behind the bar ... magnificent!)

The singing probably started at around 1 pm each day (but I wasn't there myself to confirm that!) However I do know that it ended at about 5am on each of the three nights. We kept going late!

Well done Snuffy!
