The ENTIRE UK (The complete island of Great Britain plus Northern Ireland and a few associated Island groups) would fit within the state of Oregon - which is the 9th largest of the 50 states.

The US as a whole is 38.5 times larger then the UK.

Scotland PLUS Wales PLUS Northern Ireland have a COMBINED population less then the CITY of New York.


ENGLAND alone would fit within the state of Louisiana - the 31st in size. Louisiana is a bit over 51,000 sqare miles, England a bit over 50,000 sqare miles.

Connecticut is about the size of Northern Ireland. There are two states smaller.

Wales is about the size of New Jersey. there are but three states smaller.

Scotland has the population of Arizona - which is the 20th state in terms of population

Wales the population of Mississippi - the 31st state in terms of population

England itself has a higher population than any one of the US states: but California alone has a polulation over half that of the entire UK
