John Martyn used to use several copycats in his live set, I remember. The tapes used to misbehave sometimes, though not as much as the ones they used in mellotrons. Mind, the early electronic delays could be a bit temperamental, too; I knew one that had to spend nights in the airing cupboard or it would go on strike when you were least expecting it.
