It was one hell of a predicament. The skinny kid had written some great songs but…damn! His voice…pitiful! Fingernails scratching on a blackboard sounded more pleasant. But the kid had spirit and drive. So the producer wanted to give him a chance.
"Okay, try this. Try to sing like Sinatra, not that you can but try. That may help."
The kid tried, lord he tried, but the results were worse.
"Okay, try to sing like someone who sings really badly. See if that helps."
He tried. It helped.
Amazed, the producer said, "Okay, Mr. Dylan, now we are getting somewhere.
