If we cared about material objects, we wouldn't treat them the way we do, using them up and throwing them away. No: what we are addicted to is the dreams associated with the objects, and when the objects cannot satisfy them, we seek out another dream. Look at television commercials: do you see objects? No. What you see are dreams, and the even more tantalizing glimpse of a magical glistening dream object beckoning from behind the mirage."
