Most people need an envelope to push against; it's part of a desire to recreate the womb. If they succeed, then it's time to get a new envelope. A goal achieved is a goal set too low. The TV brains are geniuses at marketing and selling dreams to consumers. No wonder it's called programming. The episode or sitcom is merely filler between commercials. The commercials are the most interesting aspect of TV now. They are better produced, with more intelligence and creativity concentrated in 30 seconds in most cases, than the program which they are designed to interrupt.
