Thread Name: Folklore: rackabello/sir lionel
Subject: Folklore: rackabello/sir lionel
i am writing a paper on the connection between the invasion of
patriarchal peoples into old europe, displacing, among others,
worshippers of a sow-headed goddess who was a precursor to cerridwen, and the many ballads about young questing knights going off into the forest to kill a ravenous wild boar. this is my own cockamamie theory, nevertheless...how many versions of "sir bangum and the boar"
can we come up with if we join forces?
or alternately, does anyone know the words to helena triplett's "bob porter" (a genuinely creepy song, also about pigs and men)
thank you so so so much
