Just thought some might be interested: there is now on the newsstands an issue of Oxford American magazine (from Oxford, Mississippi) that is a special issue on southern music. It has very well-written articles on Doc Watson, Norman Blake, Leadbelly, the origins of Jazz, John Prine, and much more. Even comes with a CD of about 25 songs by artists of many times and styles. Go get one.
