Thread Name: Lyr Req: Muddy Roads (Kate Wolf)
Subject: Lyr Add: MUDDY ROADS (Kate Wolf)
In case Kate Wolf's song is the one you want...
Lyrics copied from http://spikesmusic.spike-jamie.com/folk/kw3/MUDDY-ROADS.pdf, with line breaks changed by me to emphasize the rhyme (which is actually more like assonance).
There are also chords at that site, but I omitted them because of the difficulty of getting them to line up right.
MUDDY ROADS
(Kate Wolf)
If I claim to have the answers,
Would I be taking chances
Loving you?
And if I could say the wind was right,
I shouldn't stay with you tonight,
Who would lose?
CHORUS: 'Cause you got me dancing down these muddy roads,
With soft sand between my toes,
Feeling fine,
The sunlight playing on my back,
Shirt in hand, singing out
In crazy rhyme.
And if I could see around the bend,
Would it change the time I spend
Wanting you?
If I could bring you a perfect rose,
From all the pretty buds that grow,
How could I choose? CHORUS
If I could count the days to come,
And mark them off one by one,
To spend with you,
I'd be rich but never poor.
I'd find myself with many more
Than I could use. CHORUS
[Sung by Kate Wolf on her albums "Poet's Heart," 1985; "Gold in California, Vol. 1 & 2: A Retrospective of Recordings 1975-1985," 1986; "Carry It On," 1996; and "Weaver of Visions: The Kate Wolf Anthology," 2000.]
[There is also a tune by this title, but I haven't been able to find any words for it.]
