No real stretch of the imagination. In the early days when "pit silos" were first becoming popular, there were numerous reports of mysterious "livestock ailments" that were eventually traced to fermentation of the feed in the silo.

Just imagine a herd of 30 or 40 drunken (very happy) cows.
