Last evening the chicken exploded.

I had had the local bomb squad check it out, and they had gotten all excited about "checking out some chick." The Federal Marshal who lives in the apartment below mine had also checked it because I was worried about the wires and batteries and stuff inside it.

Fortunately the chicken was outside when it happened. The blast destroyed almost all of half a quarter of a hillside. For a moment I thought it was something the chicken ate, but then I remembered that it was already dead.

Rotting feathers and such are all over the place.

Could this have been some sort of threat? Even though the tag on its leg was addressed to me, could it have been meant for someone else?
