G'day ooh-aah,

It was indeed Mt Field ... I had slipped into local parlance and just called it "National Park" (the railway station name ... when it had a railway station ... when it had a passenger railway!) I can't remember the lake's name - but it was definitely more than a tarn - I think it was the one now dammed for water supply.

I'm afraid most of my fellow New Southers believe God a deal that they could always bushwalk in shorts! I worked on the Hydro schemes down there (in the '60s) so I have a more realistic view of the weather!
