That was a very enjoyable evening, with a good variety of singers and songs, and a good appreciative audience.
    The Railway clientele was intriguingly bizarre that night;- comprising hardcore folkies, cyclists, and pigeon fanciers as well as the usual underage* alcopop drinkers on the pool table.
    It was nice to meet so many old and new friends, and to hear so many interesting songs. Alan, thanks for bringing back memories of Harry Cox with your "Australia", even though I break out in giggles every time over the line about 'entering the bush of Australia'. Harry - loved the Prickly Bush, and its good to meet you at last. John (aka Geordie) you've found a real power in your delivery so that "Sorrows Away" & "Blackleg Miner" both were really effective. John J sang more verses of "The Cuckoo's Nest" than I'd ever heard, and the singer on my right who added a new line to "Blackbirds and Thrushes" deserves to be shot commended. It was also lovely to hear Sophie Legg's "Catch me if you can" sung so sensitively. Great to hear Helen who has obviously been inspired by her Sam Pirt masterclasses. And Diz, good to hear you again, after welcoming you to Mudcat all those months ago, I liked your "Bleezin' Blind Drunk" very much, as well as the way you pulled the pigeon song out of your memory.
    I'm previously engaged for 4 June, but I'll be there again for 18 June.
