There was a (BBC, I think) television documentary about Percy Grainger many years ago. They played an original recording (probably of Joseph Taylor, though I can't remember the details) over an image of the singer's gravestone in a churchyard....a stone that was blackened and worn and neglected. One of the eeriest things that I have ever experienced, and it made the hairs on the back of my neck bristle....
