Possibly the moment of greatest disappointment in the musical arena was the day the Shatner/ Dylan recording session was cancelled. There are many rumors as to why it fell apart, but I believe the biggest stumbling block was humility. Both were so humbled by the presence of the other that they actually argued over who would get top billing. Dylan said it should be "Bill & Bob", Shatner said "Bob and Bill". When the difference of viewpoint evolved into a heated exchange, physical blows were thrown. It is unclear as to who threw the first punch.

Perhaps Little Hawk has more info to add...

A little known fact about these sessions was that the man chosen to play the banjo on several tracks was Tom Jones. Jones is an exceptional banjoist. Before he sold out to the "What's New, Pussycat" crap, he had released a bluegrass album entitled "Front Porch Pickin'". Unfortunately, the album was pulled from the shelves when Jones became the sex-symbol. His manager did not want such a babe-magnet to be associated with something as "hokey" as bluegrass.

I heard the "Front Porch Pickin'" album while visiting a friend in Texas. It is mind-boggling! Jones' breakneck picking is incredible, and he actually had a fine bluegrass singing voice.

I tried to purchase the album from my friend, but he would not depart with it.
