A couple of weeks back we were lamenting the loss of Frank Winter, one of the singers in The Maritime Crew in Auckland, New Zealand. The Crew sang at Frank's funeral and then a few days later Peter went on holiday to Fiji. The news has come through that Peter died there, probably from a heart attack. According to Bob Large, one of the remaining Crew:
The Maritime Crew is in shock - we had just begun to absorb the loss of Frank when the news of Pete's death came through. Everybody loved Pete - what else can I say? Pete's song "The Longliner's Lament" was also recorded by Brouhaha. Lew Black sings Pete's song on the Maritime Crew recording, "Under the Southern Cross". I'd like to think that Pete and Frank are playing whistle and bones on Fiddler's Green right now.
There is a lovely photo on www.maritimecrew.co.nz Sorry, I haven't figured out the "blicky" yet. Robyn (Link added)
