But you're right...those damned lighthouses. Just because they're tall they really lord it over you and you get a bunch of them together and the going gets rocky. Don't get me wrong, some of my best friends are lighthouses but there's good ones and bad ones...some are just typical shackers and they act like we ought to keep them in bulbs forever because their grandpa's had to use a flame. I never owned a lighthouse of even lit a flame so it ain't my fault. Now there movin' onto some of the nicer coastlines and wanting to be right in there with the Coast Guard stations and hotels. It's OK for them to be on the nicer beaches, I just don't think they need to be mixed in like that. And I know a lot of people who don't mind it, but I don't want those friggin' lighthouses mixing in with the channel buoys....that's not right no matter what anyone says and I'll tell them so right to their beacon! Now I'm NOT one to hold back coastal change, but things aren't going to change overnight and so many of the lighthouses are so pushy about it. Just give it time...another hundred years or so and things can improve, but some of them are lobbying to be lightships right now and our coasts just aren't ready for that yet. And I'm sorry if they get offended by being called lighthouses, but I can't keep up with every damn name change and I KNOW I'm NOT calling them Coastal Warning Devices. But I don't call any of them shackers, even if they are. I haven't used that word in 10 years and anyone who says I have is a liar...Yessir that's right! So as you can see, I'm not a racist, but I don't want my buoys hangin' out with one of them.
