The situation is usually neither as bad as the doomsayers insist nor as good as the naysayers insist, but it is bad.

Denial is the customary retreat of the conventional, the comfortable, the complacent, and the skeptical. Since the situation, as I said, is not as bad as the doomsayers say it is, however, those in denial may remain comfortably oblivious to their slave status for a long time to come...maybe even for their whole lives.

They say ignorance is bliss. I guess it is for many. Well, time to go to the mall and buy more stuff! Or...why not just plunk down in front of the TV and watch another episode of "Survivor"...Mr Bird-in-a-cage.
