Your government is depending on you to reject truth. In the U.S., most Americans are not able to understand that our country is now turning into a police state domestically while we abuse people and nations internationally. Really...most Americans are not capable of understanding what is going on because of a phenomenon called Cognitive Dissonance.

Cognitive dissonance is an INCREDIBLY powerful phenomenon, and it is one that most governments are using against their citizens. 'America may not be perfect, but we have the best form of government there is' CANNOT be reconciled with the USA PATRIOT Act and the Homeland Security Bill. Those pieces of legislation are ANTI-American, but when the average citizen is presented with the PROOF of the treason committed by our legislators, a disconnect occurs. We've been taught to trust the government, that the government is good, and we therefore reject any suggestion that the govt would act against our interests.

People debate whether the disconnect is a product of 'having so much invested in the system,' but it's a lot more primal than that. This is fundamental, rat-in-the-maze psychology being used against us.

The NORAD Interceptor jets could ONLY have been held on the ground Sept 11, 2001 by the President or the on-duty Joint Chiefs that day, yet people are not able to address this issue. And it's not politics or patriotism which keeps people from asking questions, it's visceral. Most Americans CANNOT believe the truth.

Read about cognitive dissonance, then consider how many lies you've been told. The current world situation is a tissue of lies. 'Operation Iraqi Freedom' is a good example of cognitive dissonance in action...the name sounds American and democratic and positive, but the deed is dirty and money-grubbing and murderous.
