You are all, of course right about ballads, but they did sing and tell some sort of stories in Vth cent. Britain. I'm probably going to have to punt, especially as I'm short of time. But I thought I'd take a stab at looking for the earliest stuff I can find, and as nobody seems to know for sure, educated guesses are more than welcome. Sources of translations of old Celtic stuff would be really, really welcome.
