Hi Freso, sorry I didn't see this before. I live in Toronto. As for free music events, the best place is probably Tranzac, which has different participatory events on various days. The Flying Cloud series mentioned above takes place at the Tranzac. It's downtown; the closest major intersection is Bloor and Spadina.

What do you play, and what do you like to listen to?

I often go to a country/old-time jam Saturday afternoons (in the east end), and sometimes to Monday evening Celtic session at the Tranzac. I live in eastern Toronto, in the neighbourhood called "the Danforth".
