I'd suggest any simple, well-known melody of the type one encounters in beginning folk guitar books, such as Skip to my Lou or You are my Sunshine. I alsao think you may find that using an open tuning or a dropped D will facilitate this as you can get a lot more mileage out of your bass strings.
