Terri Gross replayed an 80's interview of him on "Fresh Air" today on NPR. It was wonderful to hear his voice and his take on things, again. He spoke a lot about the very early days of live broadcast news. When he first worked for NBC, no one was actually assigned to the White House because they were used to all of the news going out overnight to the newspapers. None of the live stuff. Then, along came NBC and him and everything they did was live! What a time!
