Thanks, Gene, for your input. You may be right about "her angel face". On listening again, I also think they may be singing "tottering feet" or "toddling feet" rather than "darling feet", as I had thought. I suppose the version on "Radio Vol 1" is a different recording from the one I have, which is from the Rounder Records disc titled simply "The Blue Sky Boys", 1976 - the words may be clearer on the recording you have. For anyone who might be interested, here's the first verse and chorus as I understand them:

The old family bible holds
In its yellow pages old
A treasure far more dear to me than gold
And I shed a silent tear
Every day as year by year
This treasure grows more precious to my heart

Just a strand from a yellow curl
Brings memories of our girl
An angel here on Earth to me she seemed
But the Master called one day
And took our child away
